With every tragic story heard at the Aged Care Royal Commission it becomes clearer that unscrupulous aged care service providers do not employ enough staff to care for the elderly, putting our most vulnerable at risk of neglect and abuse.
It is because of these unscrupulous aged care service providers that we need set ratios. It’s a stupid argument to suggest that the “good” aged care providers may reduce their staff if ratios are made law. (They probably have safe ratios as we speak so nothing will change)
Please read the heart breaking story from Sarah Holland-Batt, it’s an all too common story and one that can be stopped if we have enough skilled staff rostered on to care for our elderly.
Let’s make ratios law.
