My darling mum, Phyllis, would have been 96 today. She is the reason I stood up & I will continue to stand up for our vulnerable in aged care. I think of her every day. Wherever Mum is right now, I know she'd be having a g&t.
Last Friday, I spoke at the Victorian sitting of the Royal Commission's Community Forum. You can read my speech here. In it, I spell out the five ways we can fix the broken system of aged care:
1. Staff/resident ratios
2. Suitability of staff
3. Suitability of approved providers
4. Need for local and empowered supports
5. Room for co-operative models

I'd like everyone to spare a thought for the hundreds, if not thousands of residents in aged care who will be neglected today because of Australia's appalling staffing levels.
This needs to be a bigger election issue, don't you think? Today, the Aged Care Royal Commission ( #agedcarerc ) is sitting in Sydney. Right now, can you do one thing to help, and share this petition? Make sure you use the #agedcarerc hashtag.
