I am a parent whose daughter is suffering due to the actions of eight children, two years older than her. Despite our pleas for help, both the school and police have been unable to intervene effectively due to the bullies being only 14/15 years old. This situation is not unique; it's a systemic issue that needs immediate attention.

Bullying in schools has reached alarming proportions. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, about 20% of students aged 12-18 experienced bullying nationwide in 2017 (NCES). Yet, often it's not the perpetrators who are segregated or expelled from schools but rather their victims - all under the guise of 'keeping them safe'. This approach does nothing but embolden bullies and further victimize those they target.

We need a change in policy that mandates schools segregate or expel bullies instead of their victims. It's time we shift our focus from merely protecting victims after incidents occur towards preventing these incidents altogether by holding bullies accountable for their actions.
