Mandate Protective Footwear for Dogs on Hot Summer Concrete to save their paws!

The Issue

I've seen it firsthand - the discomfort and pain our beloved dogs endure when walking on scorching hot concrete during summer months, and I hate seeing it, It's a sight that tugs at my heartstrings whenever I see it, watching as they gingerly step, their paws burning from the heat of the summer asphalt. This is a very common occurrence not just for my dogs but also for many others in our community.

Summer temperatures can soar up to 120°F or more. The American Veterinary Medical Association warns that such high temperatures can cause the pavement to heat up to 140°F  and even more than that, which is way more than enough to burn a dog's paws within minutes of contact if one questions that take your shoes and socks off and walk across the street and back during summer so you can feel how dogs feel when walking on it.

We take action and protect our furry friends from this avoidable harm by requiring them to wear protective footwear when out on hot concrete during the summer months. Also getting shoes for dogs isn't very expensive at all they range from 10 dollars to 49 dollars on Amazon.

By mandating this simple yet effective solution, we can significantly reduce instances of paw burns among dogs in our community. It’s not just about comfort, it’s about preventing unnecessary suffering and potential long-term damage. if a mandate seems excessive, let's review state requirements to have a dog vaccinated or on a leash in public places this mandate is no more complicated than those requirements.

Let us stand together as responsible pet owners and advocates for animal welfare. We urge authorities and pet owners to implement regulations requiring protective footwear for dogs on hot concrete during the sweltering summers. also, there's a way to see if the concrete is hot which is by touching it for about 10 seconds.

  •  the footwear isn't really expensive only costing about 10-40$ on Amazon
