As members of the Sagamok Anishnawbek community, we have a vested interest in the financial management of our community. We elect our Chief and Council with trust that they will manage our resources responsibly. However, transparency is key to maintaining this trust. Therefore, we demand an independent third-party audit of the financials over the last two years.

Under the First Nation Financial Transparency Act, audits should be provided within a specific time frame. Yet, it seems that this has not been adhered to by our leaders. This lack of transparency raises concerns about how funds are being managed - especially given that our community is set to receive significant wealth from the Robinson Huron treaty annuity claim.

We believe in accountability and good governance for all First Nations communities across Ontario, Canada. Our demand is simple: Require Sagamok Anishnawbek Chief and Council to undergo an independent audit of their financials over the last two years.
