Mandate Hiring of Felons by All Businesses

The Issue

I am deeply moved to initiate this cause out of personal conviction and fair judgment. If a felon can exercise their democratic right and become president of the US, then every U.S. citizen who has served time should also be able to find employment and reintegrate into society effectively.

A startling statistic shows that nearly two-thirds of released state prisoners will be re-arrested within three years (National Institute of Justice). This is often due to limited opportunities for employment, leading them back into a life of crime. It's a vicious cycle that needs to stop.

Condemning felons to a life without gainful employment does not facilitate rehabilitation, but instead perpetuates a cycle of criminality. It's time for a cultural shift, with legal provisions in place that require all companies to see beyond one's past and focus on their potential to make positive contributions to society. If we can entrust a felon with the leadership of our nation, we should entrust them with a chance at employment.

We strongly urge policymakers to bow to fairness and justice and implement a law that requires businesses and companies to hire felons, thereby promoting rehabilitation and reducing recidivism. Join us in this plea for justice and fairness, sign the petition.
