I can't thank you enough for signing the petition to mandate helmets for children on horseback in Oregon. 

Here's a jaw-dropping statistic:

In 2002, there were an estimated 13,400 emergency department visits nationwide for horse-related injuries among children younger than 15 years, ranking equestrian-related injury as the second highest in severity score among childhood injuries, surpassed only by pedestrians being struck by a car (PubMed).

We can put a dent in these tragic outcomes with legislation that mandates helmets for these kids, but we still need to spread the word — It will make all the difference to get this in front of more eyeballs! 

So, could you please take three minutes to:

1. Find the contact information of an Oregon local news outlet, child safety advocacy group, or influencer (this info is usually on their website)
2. Copy and paste the following message to them:

Horseback riding, while a beloved activity, poses inherent risks to children.
