Mandate Fertility Treatment Coverage for All Ohioans

Mandate Fertility Treatment Coverage for All Ohioans
The Issue
My name is Nichole Wilson, and I’ll be honest—I didn’t always think motherhood was in the cards for me. Life had its twists and traps, and I learned to survive more than I dreamed. But then I met someone I truly love—someone I want to build a life with, someone I want to raise a child with. And now, as I’ve just turned 40, it’s heartbreaking to face the possibility that I might not be able to have a child of my own—not because I waited too long, but because the system makes it so hard for people like me to get the care we need.
I’m on Medicaid in Ohio, and right now, fertility treatments like IVF, IUI, or even basic reproductive diagnostics aren’t covered. That means thousands of women—especially low-income women—are denied options simply because they can’t afford them out of pocket. Infertility affects 1 in 8 couples, and for women over 40, time is everything. It’s terrifying to know that help exists, but access is locked behind insurance policies and state decisions.
This petition isn’t just about me. It’s about every woman in Ohio who has hope in her heart and no coverage in her plan. It’s about creating fair, compassionate healthcare that includes fertility support, regardless of income, background, or insurance provider.
Other states—like New York, Illinois, and Colorado—are already doing this. It’s time Ohio caught up.
Please sign and share this petition to help advocate for fertility care to be included in Ohio’s insurance mandates, including Medicaid. No one should have to give up the dream of parenthood because they can’t afford the price tag.
Let’s fight for a future that gives everyone a chance to grow a family—when they’re ready, when it matters most.
