Mandate Fair Water Billing Practices in Maumee City

The Issue

We have been operating hotels in the city of Maumee for several years, and throughout this time, we have observed a persistent issue - we have been consistently overcharged for our water usage. Our invoices from the city's water department have often reflected numbers that do not correlate with our actual consumption. Needless to say, the impact on our bottom line is significant. This issue is not ours alone. It has come to our attention that many other businesses share this struggle.

The method used for water bill calculation is far from clear, and this leaves room for undue charges. It leads us to believe that there is a need for more transparency and fairness in water billing practices within our city. In fact, commercial premises in the United States typically use about 25,000 to 1 million gallons of water monthly, significantly lower than what is reflected in our bills (Source: EPA).

We urge the city of Maumee's water department to reform their billing practices. This would include charging businesses based on their actual water consumption and revising previous water bills that reflect incorrect usage.

This is more than a plea for fair billing. It is an appeal for transparency, accountability, and fairness in our local government entities. Please sign this petition to bring about this much-needed change in our city.
