Hi everyone! I recently experienced changing my daughter on a concrete floor due to inaccessibility to a changing station in an arcade place where family and friends go to play. Luckily, I had a diaper changing pad, and my daughter remained calm instead of resisting to be changed this time. However it's risky to change them on the floor, especially if they move around a lot or get fussy. I eventually had to call my boyfriend over to the woman’s bathroom to help me change and dress her because although I changed her on the floor she ended up urinating again on herself and the changing pad as I was finishing up to pick her up from the floor to put her pants on. He came on in and helped me do a second change but we got stared down by people exiting the bathroom. Being the great father he is, despite the stares we were both relieved our baby was safe due to our teamwork and was able to have a clean nappie! However furious under our circumstances to change our child.

This experience made me realize how important it is for public places, particularly those that host for families like arcades and restaurants, to have accessible diaper changing stations. Not only in women's restrooms but also in men's and family restrooms. Single fathers and fathers who are involved in caring for their children should not be judged or face added pressures simply because of outdated facilities.

HENCE; Family bathrooms aren’t always available everywhere. Some places just have woman and men restrooms. Our tiny children MATTER TOO!

It's time we adapt to modern family dynamics by ensuring every restroom, regardless of gender designation, is equipped with a diaper changing station. It's a small investment but a giant leap towards inclusivity and support for all parents, guardians, and caretakers.

According to the National Center for Fathers, approximately 2.7 million households are headed by single fathers in the United States. By not providing the necessary facilities in men's restrooms, we are ignoring a significant portion of the population. Also, a 2018 study suggested that the presence of changing tables in men's restrooms remains inadequate, causing severe inconvenience for countless families each day.

Beyond statistics, this is about dignity and comfort for both the child and the parent. Everyone should have the opportunity to take care of their loved ones. Diaper changing tables should be accessible and mandated in every bathroom. Not to mention in tact and not broken. We as parents should be able to be worry free about where and how we’re changing our little ones diapers. We deserve diaper changing tables in any facility that host for families. Not just selective places or federal facilities. We deserve access to clean and supportive spaces all equipped with diaper changing tables, where both mothers and fathers can care for their children without judgment or unnecessary difficulty.
