Mandate Beach Mate in Schools

Mandate Beach Mate in Schools
The issue
Every year when students go out on school camps or excursions involving aquatic activities, they are placed in high-risk situations. Currently, there are very limited precautions in place that actively prevent student drownings. It's important to note that even the most experienced and skilled swimmers can struggle in the water.
For teachers, this creates significant stress as they are given the responsibility to supervise many students with varying skill levels.
For students, many feel pressured into doing activities they are not comfortable with, which results in anxiety.
For parents, they can be riddled with concern as they send their children on an unknown adventure with many possibilities.
Beach Mate is a waterproof wristband that is designed to save lives as it provides teachers and supervisors early warnings of students in distress. Beach Mate monitors the students' heart rate, blood oxygen content, and location data. This information is then displayed on the accompanying Beach Mate app to assist teachers in supervising their students whilst participating in aquatic activities.
The implementation of Beach Mate in schools works to provide teachers, students, and parents peace of mind that they are being looked after whilst in the water. Teachers will have access to the accompanying Beach Mate app to assist in the supervision of students with real-time alerts and updates. Students will feel more confident stepping out of their comfort zone with the knowledge that Beach Mate is like a 'safety net' that will keep them safe as they participate in school water-based activities. Parents will have peace of mind as they send their kids to school camps and excursions, knowing their children will be safe in the water, no matter their ability.
By signing this petition, you are supporting our goal of mandating early-distress warnings to a central base station in all schools across Australia. We appreciate your support.
