Mandate All Amazon Facilities to Be Unionized

Mandate All Amazon Facilities to Be Unionized
The Issue
For families around the US, work conditions at Amazon have become personal. Behind this personal narrative is my husband, who recently began working for Amazon. The grim reality is that he has to urinate in bottles because bathroom breaks are forbidden. The van he is assigned to has no air conditioning, allowing temperatures to swell up to 120 degrees. The stringent conditions include following the exact speed limit with a surveillance camera watching his every move. Two infractions lead to a suspension without pay, more than two - termination. Amazon would rather you get into a car accident than slam on your breaks as it causes the camera to report an infraction. Yesterday sadley, a man lost his life to the heat conditions in the work vans. Amazon does not care about the safety nor the conditions of its workers. Workers are treated as replaceable units. The turnover rate is a shocking 150%. They claim they pay benefits but they do not as the workers hours are cut on purpose so they do not qualify for the benefits. There is no job security. Unfortunately, this is the only company that hires immediately so the options to work for another company with certain skill sets are slim to none.
Sadly, my husband's story is not a one-off case. Many workers at this multibillion-dollar company are subjected to similar, if not worse, conditions. There have been reported cases of employees succumbing to heat exhaustion due to unbearable temperatures within work vehicles. Workers, under pressure to maximize productivity, often resort to relieving themselves in their vehicles.
Requiring all Amazon facilities to be unionized is an imperative move towards protecting workers' rights. Unions will equip Amazon workers with the necessary voice to fight against inhumane treatment, exerting their rights for decent working conditions, breaks, and job security. This is a fight for human dignity against a backdrop of efficiency and profit-making.
Sign this petition to ensure that every Amazon worker is part of a union. Stand up to this giant corporation to demand decent working conditions, basic human care, and a voice for workers. Stand up for people like my husband.
