Manchester City Council has allowed poor taste Alcotraz bar to set up shop in Manchester, glamourising prison life.

Prison is not fun, it is a place of trauma yet the company behind this bar want to make light of the deep inequalities and suffering that prisoners experience.

According to the Ministry of Justice the current prison population exceeds overcrowding levels.

26% of the prison population are from a minority ethnic group.

Care leavers are estimated to represent between 24% and 27% of the adult prison population.

Why has Manchester City Council allowed this poor taste bar to get a license and make profit out of misery?
