Sad news mdc railroaded the petition and did not even consider the 4 recommendations individually, instead blanket voted. Due to a massive conservative majority in council they all voted no. One independent councillor voted for the petition but was over ruled. The council had clearly not read or listened to anything we had said or provided them with as in the debate their objections to the lake; we had already answered and proved they were not objections. One councillor blatantly lied in council and the others just agreed. Parliament have even formed an APPG to bring back outdoor swimming and they just ignored that! The mdc need an overhaul of councillors, to have a fair and balanced representative of the Maldon people. They also need to be shown that the swimming lake is what people want. They need to start acting upon what people want and not want the council want. So we will gather more signatures and advice and go back again with our campaign.
