After documenting and hearing the stories of men's suicides from their family members, it is clear that there are fundamental fractures, misuse, and intentional tools of harassment in Indian laws such as 498A (Domestic Violence), 304B (Dowry Death), 375 and 376 (Rape), 125 (Maintenance under CrPC), and many more. These are just and important laws to protect women of India from generations of abuse and sexual harassment. However, when they are used as a weapon, it undermines their suffering and makes the lives of actual victims even more difficult. These are all gender based laws and give no regard to men who are victims of these crimes and laws themselves. In discussing these matters, it was clear that both the Judiciary (Legal system) and the Executive (Parliament) are unable to act because there are no laws to deter people from filing false cases. 

POLICE:

1) Refusal to file an FIR (First Information Report) in many cases for years (Rishi Trivedi Suicide- 2 years and Kishan Singh Suicide - 4 years ongoing)

2) Failure to do, or no investigation was done of the evidence and the crime scene (Amit Kumar suicide, Nishant Baranwal Alleged Suicide, Arvind Bharti Suicide)

3) Families of the victims are abused and harassed by the police ("Your brother was a psycho" and "Your brother died; now should I kill the woman as well by filing your case" - Vikas Kumar Suicide, "Woman's family is very nice" - Kishan Singh Suicide)

PROCEDURE BY THE COURTS

1) Matters go on for years or even decades when the case is filed by the victims' families (Arvind Bharti Suicide - 9 years ongoing, Syed Ahmad Makhdoom - 20 years ongoing, Amit Kumar - 4 years ongoing).

GOAL

These are some of the examples from just the Delhi NCR region, which is crying and begging for justice and changes in laws. They cannot get justice until the laws are made and the current ones amended. Families like these and many others require people of India to support and come together by signing this petition to show Members of Parliament that there is a nationwide demand. In essence, we will be asking for two changes: 

• Make False Cases A Crime: Once it is proven that the case was false, the person filing the case should be punished equally to the case a man was charged with. There should be a one-year time limit to give closure to the family and the false accusation case.
• Amend all the laws that are gender-based, and the inclusion of men must be done. The wording of the law should not specify a particular gender. Neutral wording should be implemented, like in any other laws that do not specify gender, colour, creed, or sex of the person. IT WILL NOT CHANGE what is required of the court and police procedures. 

As society moves forward, the laws and punishments should reflect the current times and circumstances. The judiciary has a duty to protect the victims and their families. Provide them with timely justice. Your one signature and share can help make these laws equal for everyone.
