Dear Friends of Lobsters,

The GentleWays for OurPlanet team would like to express our sincere gratitude for the stellar support we’ve received. Every signature, social media share, and conversation has been instrumental in helping us reach our online petition goal. We sincerely thank you, and we want to share the exciting next steps for protecting lobsters in Ontario!

Following the swell of online support we received, GentleWays launched a physical petition directly to the Ontario Legislative Assembly with the same goal: amend the Provincial Animal Welfare Services act to include lobsters and spare them from live boiling.

Our team of lobster champions hit the ground running, tabling at community events from Ottawa to Hamilton. After countless conversations with Ontarians, the result was clear: folks care deeply about fair animal treatment and want those values reflected in the law.

As such, we’ve received a whopping 415 in-person signatures in addition to the 532 we’ve received online! Our next step is to submit this petition during the next legislative assembly meeting via our sponsoring MPP, where policymakers will be responsible for considering the petition’s argument and making a decision.

In the meantime, please keep to sharing, keep signing, and keep talking. Every action helps prove to our government that Ontarians care about animals.
