Me and some other parents from the Resourse Base @ Edmund Waller want to make Walsham Road a school street. We would like to see if its something other parents from the wider school community would also like to see & would help to become a reality.
 
A school street is where the road by a school is closed to traffic during the hours of school drop off and pick up, to prioritise the health and safety of the majority of families who are walking or wheeling to school.
 
The entrance in Walsham Road does, at times, pose a risk. This is the entrance used routinely by our youngest (Nursery) and most vulnerable (Autism Resource Base) as well as the general school population. 
 
As the road is a cul-de-sac, any driver using it has to reverse/turn around and this causes challenges with the pedestrians.
 
Many of the children in the Autism Resource Base can abscond or get into the road at a moments notice and it would be much safer for them if it was a school street. School children, especially those who may be less aware of road safety or have difficulties due to age or developmental needs, are particularly at risk.
 
We have been inspired by other local schools getting school streets that work really well and want the same for  Walsham Road.
