Virtua fighter 5 is an iconic game that is currently held back by the inclusion of a kernel level anti cheat.

The inclusion of this long after the launch of the game isn’t only a betrayal of those who bought the game, it is also holding the game back in a variety of ways, and it is simply unnecessary for a 20 year old game to have mandatory kernel level anti cheat when other options could suffice.

Kernel level cheat is a potential security and privacy risk that pushes out people who would otherwise be willing to play the game, the negative image it creates it is likely to discourage people who arent die hard fans of the franchise to pick up the game, it also makes it more tedious to get the game to work on linux.

I think it would be in the franchises'  best interest to make the anti cheat optional on the steam version of the game, and i think implementing this would show the good will of the company and its willingness to listen and care about its players; which would increase its pr in the leadup to the upcoming vf6.
