When I started this petition, I was spending over £250/month on train travel. After calculating more accurately, it’s actually closer to £300, sometimes even more — just to get to my NHS job. I often do 10–12 shifts a month, and because I work nights, I always pay for two tickets per shift. Return and day tickets don’t last 24 hours, so shift workers like me pay double.
And I’m not alone.
🚨 A colleague working 6 shifts a month told me she spends £224, and her return train after a night shift isn’t even available anymore — meaning she has to wait until 10:30 AM to go home. Others I know are paying over £300 per month, and facing frequent delays and cancellations. One told me: “I pay more for trains than for food.”
Since launching the petition, I’ve been interviewed by multiple media outlets. Here are some of the highlights:

📢 Let’s keep this going. I’m incredibly grateful for the support so far, but we need to push for visibility and change. Please share this petition again and help get the voices of shift workers heard.
