Make Tommy Tuberville debate Doug Jones

Make Tommy Tuberville debate Doug Jones
The Issue
Alabamians deserve leaders who show up, answer tough questions, and respect the voters enough to debate their opponent face-to-face. Doug Jones has agreed to a debate, Florida resident Tommy Tuberville should too.
This petition calls on Tommy Tuberville to commit to at least one public, televised debate with Doug Jones before the election. Avoiding debate denies voters the transparency they deserve and weakens trust in our political process, and makes said politicians look as if they cannot stand for what they claim to.
Alabama is not afraid of discussion. We have a core set of southern values, including honesty, accountability, and the courage to stand behind your beliefs. If you’re asking for our vote, you should be willing to earn it.
Whether you support Tommy Tuberville or Doug Jones, there is no denying that Alabamians deserve to have a chance to review their candidates for who they are and what they believe.
God bless America, and God Bless Alabama.
This petition was drafted independently with absolutely no involvement from either the Jones or Tuberville campaigns.
About the petitioner -
I am Tanner Shelnutt, a 17-year-old from Alabama who is dead set on ensuring a better future for all Alabamians no matter their shade or creed.
I've found that a bipartisan effort from the people of Alabama to create a space where the people can truly decide on their governor based on a basis of their policies in the form of a debate would be one of the strongest ways to do so.
