My bank - HSBC with whom I have been a customer for the last 5 years, have recently been in touch and have requested that I provide specific information in order to satisfy their new Safeguard initiative (so I can continue to access my accounts).
What do they need from me? Either a passport of a UK drivers license - neither of which I can provide.
Why not?
1. Passport: I cannot provide this because the Home Office has had possession of my passport since 28th June 2017.
2. UK drivers license: I don't have one. Why? Because in order to convert my Australian drivers license into a UK license, I need to provide my passport... Yep, that's the one the Home Office has had possession of since 28th June 2017.
What will happen if I can't provide the documents? I have spoken to HSBC and they have indicated that unless these can be provided, my account will be restricted and I will be unable to access funds as freely as I can do currently.
This just highlights that pending applications aren't just about not having a visa... There are serious & damaging side effects of the Home Office's indifference towards their applicants - and that needs to change!
Again, we urge you to share this petition with your friends and help us make changes to the way the Home Office handles visa applications.
Rusty & Stephen.
