If you support making Royal Park an off-leash area for dogs, it’s worth remembering that this has already been put directly to Queenscliffe Council.
On 25 June 2025, Councillors Isabelle Tolhurst and Brendan Monahan moved a motion to establish a 12-month trial allowing dogs off-leash at Royal Park.
The motion was defeated 2-3.
So this isn’t some new or radical idea. Council has already had the opportunity to support a Royal Park off-leash trial.
If you believe Royal Park should be available as a properly managed off-leash area, sign the petition and make your voice heard.
And while you’re signing, remember who actually put the proposal to Council — and who didn’t support it.
Royal Park is public land. Let’s have a proper, evidence-based discussion about how it can be used for the benefit of the whole community — including dog owners.
