“Exciting news for dog owners in the Borough! (Whose feedback we ignored…)
Our Off Leash Open Space for Dogs survey was a great way to hear from our community, and 96% of respondents told us that the Borough needs more off-leash spaces – so Council has selected two new trial sites in Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff for dogs to enjoy some freedom. These spaces will complement the much-loved Narrows Dog Beach. (And are not really accessible to most of you…)

Some preparation work is required on these trial sites (just as soon as the roof of the toilet at the lighthouse gets fixed. 2050 at the latest!); we are getting that underway – we'll let you know when the trials will commence as the logistics are worked through and we get closer to the date. (Don’t hold your breath)
A quick reminder:
Royal Park Oval remains a dog-on-leash area, consistent with all public places in the Borough. Please respect these rules so everyone can enjoy the space safely. Our Local Laws team will be monitoring this area and will take reasonable enforcement action if needed. ($$$$$)

It appears that despite nearly 20% of the respondents advocating an increase to the dog beach to the narrows that’s usually vacant have been ignored and the other 7.5 % that commented advocation of Royal Park Oval have also been ignored. Before cynical thanks for keeping the place safe. In case somebody’s lapdog has rabies or goes on a killing spree I imagine(?).
