Make the pedestrian crossings by Mary Stevens Park safer

Make the pedestrian crossings by Mary Stevens Park safer
The Issue
Everyday hundreds of children pass using the zebra crossing near Mary Stevens Park on their way to school, as well as many families with younger children, as well as the elderly who seek to enjoy time in the park. Unfortunately, there have been 5 collisions on these zebra crossings in the past five years, with a further 2 collisions on the zebra crossings in February 2026 alone. Almost everyday there are ‘near misses’ with a high volume of vehicles passing through, failing to stop at these zebra crossings.
For the reasonable cost of £50,000 each, the crossings could be converted into puffin crossings allowing children going to school and families visiting the park to have safer journeys.
We call upon Dudley Council to get these changed before these incidents escalate to life changing injuries or worse.
