Make the Metric System the Official Measurement System Bellingham WA.

Make the Metric System the Official Measurement System Bellingham WA.
The Issue
Bellingham, it’s time to evolve. We’re a progressive, forward-thinking city—so why are we still clinging to inches, miles, and Fahrenheit like a Victorian-era blacksmith? Let’s make the metric system the official measurement system of Bellingham, WA and finally break free from the tyranny of fractions, conversions, and completely arbitrary numbers. Why This Matters: • It’s Not Rocket Science (But If It Were, NASA Uses Metric). • Water freezes at 0°C, boils at 100°C. Meanwhile, Fahrenheit forces us to remember… 32? 212? WHY? • A kilometer is 1,000 meters. A mile? 5,280 feet. What are we even doing? • The Rest of the World Thinks We’re Embarrassing. • Canada is right there. We could be seamlessly using metric like our neighbors, but no—we’re out here measuring snowfall in inches like it’s still 1776. • Stop Wasting Brain Cells on Dumb Conversions. • How many ounces in a gallon? Who knows? Who cares? Metric lets us focus on actual important things—like making fun of people who still use feet. Our Demands: 1. Bellingham officially switches to metric.(more of a symbolic gesture) 2.Public shaming (or at least light mockery) for imperial unit loyalists. 4. A commemorative “Kilometer Zero” marker in downtown to symbolize our enlightenment. Join the movement. Sign today. Let’s drag Bellingham into the 21st century—one centimeter at a time!
