Update on the push to have the Dept of Transport and Planning move to make this intersection safer

Hello everyone! Just a quick update to let you know that although you have not heard from me I have been quietly working on this issue in the background.

Chris Miles, Box Forest Ward councillor has been super helpful in seeking updates from Merri-bek Council and we recently met with the State MP Anthony Cianflone, who has also committed to furthering the cause.

Anthony has recently brought the issue to State Parliament in the form of a 'constituent question to the minister' (I am not sure how it works exactly but I am grateful for his commitment to the matter) but if you would like to see this here is the link - the question is broadly about the boundary road corridor but specifically mentions this petition and the push for a safer intersection at approx. 2.16min in.

The intersection was also rated as number 7 in the most dangerous intersections in the northern -western region (page 12)  in a 2025-2026 RACV report identifying Melbourne's most dangerous intersections. Once again, thank you for playing your part in this push to make the Sussex st/Boundary Rd intersection safer. If you like, please ask your local friends and family to sign the petition!
