We are still fighting

After the disappointing outcome of the planning committee, where Conservative councillors voted in favour of approving the retrospective planning application for the oversized Fairmont Windsor Park hotel, plus about 3,000m2 of additional unlawfully added tarmac, much of which was over a habitat protection zone, we continue to fight. 

We are now waiting to see if the Secretary of State, Michael Gove, will accept or reject the planning committee’s approval.  If you live in his Surrey Heath constituency, please urgently write telling him of your concerns.  If approved, this will create a new planning precedent that will make it easy for any unscrupulous developer to build in the Green Belt without planning permission.

In addition to fighting this decision, the hotel owners have a second retrospective planning application which is due for consideration by the planning committee. They cut down mature trees to build five lodges and then went on to build five tennis courts with floodlights, an outdoor gym and playground in the Green Belt without planning permission.  They expect to get away with this by offering to remove a couple of mobile horse shelters, a mobile caravan on wheels and a couple of small wooden huts.

As soon as we know the Secretary of State’s decision about the hotel or the planning committee’s decision about the next retrospective planning application we will update you and let you know how we will continue to fight this, in order to protect the Green Belt.
