Bad news - the Council are supporting the application

The retrospective planning application for the oversized Fairmont Windsor Park hotel is being considered by a Runnymede planning committee at 6.30pm on 27 March at the Civic Centre.  Please attend if possible.  

It’s shocking that the planning officers are recommending the application is approved, despite strong advice from our barrister that the harm to the Green Belt, harm from intentional unlawful building in the Green Belt and actual harm to the environment clearly outweigh the benefit of demolishing a building that is much smaller than the unlawful development, owned by a different company, over a kilometre from the hotel, is a residential not a commercial building and on land that is separated by other sites plus a road.  Also, the benefit is only temporary because there is nothing to stop future building on the 72 acre site. 

If this is approved it will set a precedent that will open up the whole of the Green Belt to exploitation and unlawful building.
