In response to COVID-19, Purdue Dining & Culinary released a plan for the dining courts in which they have traffic flow pattern and a mobile order and pickup option.  These items are packaged in styrofoam packaging, which can take over 500 years to decompose. 

Reusable containers have previously been used within Purdue Dining & Catering, at Hillenbrand’s take-out and Ford’s (very short lived) take-out services.  Biodegradable packaging was used at the Sagamore Restaurant (which closed in 2020 due to the PMU Union Club Hotel’s new restaurant plans).  Purdue has used these products before and thus should be used to help protect the Earth.

In 2019, Purdue was ranked as the 6th most innovate school in the United States by US News & World Report.  If Purdue chooses to stay operational this fall, we must respond to COVID-19 with efforts that protect the Earth and Provide resources to students and staff to maintain proper health & safety guidelines.
