The Issue

As a woman who experiences menstruation, I find it utterly frustrating to have to pay for overpriced period products, especially considering that I never chose to have a period in the first place. It's unfair that a natural biological process, which I cannot control, leads to an unavoidable financial burden every single month.

Menstruation is a natural and unavoidable part of life for millions of people across the globe. Yet, for many, affording period products like pads, tampons, and menstrual cups is an ongoing challenge. In fact, one in four menstruating people struggles to purchase necessary menstrual supplies due to cost. The reality of "period poverty" affects countless individuals, forcing them to improvise with unsafe alternatives or miss out on educational and work opportunities.

No one should have to make the difficult decision between buying food or buying essential menstrual products. Period poverty is a public health issue, but it is also an issue of dignity and equality. Access to free period products should be a basic human right, ensuring that all people can manage their periods safely and with dignity.

Countries like Scotland have already taken vital steps in providing free period products to those in need, setting a precedent that should be followed globally. We must advocate for similar policies everywhere, ensuring that no one is left behind and everyone has access to the menstrual products they require.

Join the fight against period poverty. Sign this petition to demand that our government provide free period products to all those in need, ensuring equity and health for everyone who menstruates.
