Earlier last year, there were genuine efforts to bring key decision-makers together for a public conversation about homelessness, safety and amenity in Nambour. Unfortunately , we were unable to secure attendance from our local Mayor or Councillor, and that meeting never went ahead.
Since then, the same issues have kept surfacing. In parks, in businesses, in schools, and in everyday conversations around town. People are feeling the impact, but there has been no shared space to talk it through, challenge ideas, or shape a way forward together.
So instead of waiting any longer, the community is stepping up.
Nambour Community Meeting
Wednesday 28 January 2026 | 6.30 pm
The Presynct, 15 Ann Street, Nambour
This is a chance to be in the room when Nambour starts deciding what comes next.
Residents, business owners and community members will come together for an open, honest discussion about the issues many of us are already navigating daily - homelessness, housing, public safety, town amenity, business impacts and overall community wellbeing.
The night will include a live Q&A and open discussion with local voices who bring very different perspectives to the table:
• Helen Tagg – Community Advocate, Nambour Now
• Abigail – Community and Homelessness Advocate
• Trevor Thomson – Former Maroochy Shire Councillor and Deputy Mayor
• Rusty Nyman – Local Business Owner (The Presynct)
There will be real opportunity to ask questions, share lived experience, challenge assumptions, and help shape a clear community position that can be taken directly to government decision-makers.
If you’ve felt frustrated, unheard, confused, or concerned about where things are heading - this is your chance to be part of the solution instead of watching it happen from the sidelines.
You don’t need to belong to any group or organisation. If you live here, work here, or care about Nambour, this is your invitation.
Places are limited to 100.
