Hi everyone,
Just over a week ago, I launched the petition “Make Our Parks and Public Spaces Safe Again: Take Urgent Action on Homelessness in Nambour”
In that short time, more than 1,100 of you have signed — parents, business owners, volunteers, and everyday locals standing together for a Nambour that’s safe, compassionate, and fair.
Because of this united pressure, something incredible has happened: the Minister for Housing is urgently coming to Nambour next week; to discuss our housing and safety crisis. That’s huge — and it’s proof that when our community speaks with one voice, we are heard.
I’m so thankful to every single person who has signed, shared, and spoken up. You’ve made this impossible to ignore.
But we’re not finished. We have a short window this weekend before the Minister arrives to grow the petition even bigger, so when they walk into that meeting, they’ll know the whole community is watching — and expecting real action, not just talk.
I spoke today with a local woman currently in emergency accommodation with her child. She told me they are terrified at the thought of ending up on our streets right now.
This isn’t just about safety for those of us who are housed — it’s also about protecting the most vulnerable people who are already struggling without stable accommodation. If our streets don’t feel safe for them, the system is failing on all fronts.
That’s why we need urgent, practical solutions that work for the whole community — and that means keeping the pressure on.
Here’s how you can help this weekend:
- Share the petition with friends, family, and neighbours.
- Post it on social media and in local groups and encourage others to sign — especially those living, visiting and working in Nambour… Our local postcodes carry immense weight right now.
- Talk about it — at school drop-off, at work, at the shops. Every signature strengthens our position.

The more of us they see standing together, the harder it will be to ignore the solutions we need. Let’s make this weekend count.
Thank you for standing with me and with Nambour.
