Our Huntington Park neighborhood is more than just a collection of houses - It's home to children heading to school, parents rushing to work, siblings, friends, and loved ones crossing residential roads every day. Despite the familiar sight of life unfolding on these streets, there is an unsettling reality that plagues us - the blatant disregard for stop signs at our residential four-way and three-way stop intersections. 

Primarily, we find many drivers fail to completely stop or merely pause, jeopardizing the safety of pedestrians who expect drivers to abide by the law. Thus far, we have been fortunate to avert significant accidents, but we cannot wait for a tragedy to happen before we act.

To alleviate this worrying situation, we are calling for increased law enforcement presence at residential four-way and three-way stops. We believe that this would encourage drivers to follow the rules and protect our community members in the process. Every child that gets to school safely, every parent that makes it to work without incident, every friend and loved one that crosses without fear – these will be our victories.
