Had a visit from an Openreach Engineer on Wednesday, I am finally connected and can work from home. My Engineer was great.
It is usually now that I would close the Petition and declare it a victory but there are so many people going through similar things.
It only took 1 submission to Ofcom, 1 DM from a Daily Mail reporter, 1 intervention from my MP, countless phone calls with BT & Openreach, countless people I've dealt with at BT, 38 (at last count) errors by BT & Openreach and countless tweets to BT and this petition to get it done.
After all the talk about my Cable being under Concrete it was sorted in a few hours. It was by luck that I was at home when the Engineer called and like I said he was great, did everything right.
BT have stated that I am due compensation from them for all the hassle I went through, within 30 days. I have no idea how much I will get but with all the emotional distress and Money I have lost due to this (Circa £1000) it won't be enough. *19/11 Edit. Received a phone call from BT, I should be getting back in the region of £400.
So what next next for our little petition? It carries on, just because it has been done doesn't change anything. It will mean little to people who are experiencing the same problems apart from hope.
It just proves if you shout loud enough and long enough, things can get done.
Openreach should be accountable to someone, be it their Contractors, End Users or an Ombudsman service. They have way too much control and Monopoly when it comes to the Network side of things. Maybe bigger Penalty clauses in their Contracts with ISP's would be a base to build from.
So, yes, the petition will remain active, It's a slow grower, we only need 8 more people to get it noticed by the Powers that be.
And yes, I'm sorted but it's one small step on a long journey.
