Make Music Therapy Accessible for All Through the NHS

The Issue

I am a person living with ADHD and PTSD. For me, music is not just an escape, it's a lifeline. It provides solace when the world becomes overwhelming and helps me navigate my daily life.

Unfortunately, not everyone has access to this powerful therapeutic tool.

Music therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals (American Music Therapy Association). It has been shown to be effective in managing stress, improving memory recall and even aiding physical rehabilitation (World Federation of Music Therapy).

Despite its proven benefits, music therapy remains inaccessible for many who rely on the National Health Service (NHS) for their healthcare needs. This lack of accessibility denies countless individuals the opportunity to benefit from this form of therapy.

We are calling on the NHS to make music therapy accessible for all patients as part of their standard care package. By doing so we can ensure that everyone has access to this valuable resource regardless of their financial situation or geographical location.

Please sign this petition if you believe in equitable access to all forms of healthcare including music therapy. Your signature could help bring about change that will positively impact lives across our nation.
