Make 'miseducation' of the masses a punishable crime

Make 'miseducation' of the masses a punishable crime
The Issue
We protect our children from online predators with parental controls on computers and the internet, from violence and inappropriate content by using the 9pm watershed on television, we impose age ratings for movies, proof of age for consuming alcohol, smoking, gambling etc. Why do we continue to allow media misdirection and miseducation, is it time we tightened up?. It is very costly for us the taxpayers and extremely frustrating, distracting and time consuming for our governments where the media force governments to change policy by working up a frenzy by presenting a controversial and biased view for their own benefit. Reputations can be tarnished or ruined instantly with little recourse.
With the influence of the mass media now exposed by govenments due to electoral influence it is high time that ALL misinformation (Miseducation of the masses) becomes a crimminal offence. Not just control of mass influence for elections.
When the "Freedom of the Press" laws were framed the internet was not even on the horizon.
The media (and politicians) should be educating the masses with a balance of arguments and not fighting for a cause that they wish to succeed or make headline controversy for financial gain. The corrupting influence of mass media must be stopped. Perhaps a good example of miseducation is the financial crash of 2008 which is still being paid for by us the taxpayer.
This was proven to be a wrong strategy by governments later forcing the Greek banks to confiscate the deposits of customers. There were alternatives such as are in place today e.g. everything above £85,000 is forfeited should a bank collapse. Surely there was a more equitable solution where depositors took a 'haircut' even if the limit was £1billion. Should there have been an investigation into the decision to force taxpayers to bail out the banks (One of the most important decisions ever made) and not just a blanket statement - "too big to fail"?. We know only too well what would be uncovered, austerity for the many and comfort for the few. Capitalism as practised today is like a game of monopoly with the financial economy owning more and more of the worlds wealth whilst also controlling significant mass media. This world of monopoly economics, needs to change to a more balanced circular economy for the good of us all. Please lend your support to this petition and lets ensure that the media reliably informs us, the people, and educates our children and grand children. It seems we have little alternative but to force the media to educate our children in a balanced manner and change the future for the good of us all.
Lets start the change with your support now and clean up this mass media cesspool.
Encourage and support the good, honest and reliable media companies who take their enourmous influence responsiblly and discourage the bad ones by making mass media misinformation a serious crime for publishing misinformation and seriously biased influence. The editors / individuals who make these decisions to publish would have second thoughts if they were facing lengthy prison sentences and fines.
