For far too long, we have let a terrifying aspect of this dominance go unaddressed - marital rape. The sanctity of marriage should not be a shield for such heinous actions. Being a husband does not grant the right to ignore a wife's consent – it never should! It’s high time we bring this issue into the spotlight and demand the recognition of marital rape as a criminal offense in India. 

Despite discussions around the globe, marital rape remains unrecognized as a crime in India. Survivors are trapped in a brutal cycle of violence with no legal recourse, constantly reminded that their pain is unseen and unheard. This complete disregard is affront to their rights and dignity. Furthermore, such environments can create a detrimental impact on children, further perpetuating the cycle of violence.

However, it's not just about protecting the individual, it's about protecting the sanctity of family and setting the right examples for our future generations. Recognizing marital rape as a crime is the first step towards ensuring this.

Marriage ought to be a partnership of equals – not a power play where one is subjugated. No one, irrespective of their relationship status, should ever have to endure sexual abuse. Silence is no longer an option. It is time to challenge and change this misogynistic law.
