The Issue

Macqueripe Bay in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, renowned for its natural beauty, has long been a destination for tourists. Enhancing its attractiveness by designating one area for clothing-optional usage will -- based on the experiences of other tourist destinations -- likely increase visitation and revenue, providing a much-needed boost to the local economy. We propose to create a safe and inclusive environment for naturists, that will promote diversity and respect for personal preferences.

Countries that have adopted clothing-optional beaches, such as Spain and France, have seen an influx of tourists leading to an increase in revenue. In Spain, approximately 20% of tourists visit specifically for its naturist beaches (source: Spanish Tourism Bureau data). Besides coastal economies, such openness also supports growth in the wider economy -- offering opportunities for business like local hotels and eateries to thrive.

This adjustment can be done without harm to the environment or infringing on the rights of those who prefer not to partake, as naturist areas would be clearly designated and separate from general public spaces. In addition, adopting this model can further place Trinidad & Tobago on the global tourism map, adapting to evolving tourism trends.

Please join us in our effort to boost tourism and establish an inclusive, versatile entertainment option by making Macqueripe Bay clothing optional destination. Sign the petition urging the Port of Spain local authorities to give the matter their considerate attention.
