Make law enforcement stricter for drivers who fail to stop after hitting dogs/ animals
The Issue

Every year, thousands of dogs and other animals are hit by cars on our roads. While some drivers stop and take responsibility for their actions, others choose to flee the scene, leaving the injured animal to suffer or die alone. This is unacceptable.
Meet coco she was my 4 year old long haired chihuahua who sadly passed away after a hit and run incident in May, she was the sweetest, most loving dog you could ever ask for and I’m truly heartbroken that her life has been taken. The driver which obviously had no remorse after the incident failed to stop or report it to the police , for Cocos justice I want to make laws stricter on failing to stop.
I According to a study conducted by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, nearly 20% of all fatal pedestrian accidents involve hit-and-run drivers. This means that not only are these drivers breaking the law by failing to stop after an accident, but they are also putting human lives at risk.
But it's not just about human safety - animals deserve our protection too. In many cases, hit-and-run accidents involving animals go unreported and unpunished because there is no one around to witness them. This means that irresponsible drivers can continue to drive recklessly without any consequences.
We believe that it's time for law enforcement officials to take this issue seriously and start cracking down on hit-and-run drivers who fail to stop after hitting dogs or other animals. We call on lawmakers across the country to introduce stricter penalties for this type of behavior, including fines and even jail time in some cases.
By signing this petition, you are joining us in demanding justice for all animals who have been needlessly injured or killed due to reckless driving. Together we can make a difference and ensure that our roads are safe for everyone - both human and animal alike.
