Knebworth station has no step-free access to any platform. Its poor accessibility means anyone in a wheelchair finds it impossible to use the station and those with other mobility difficulties, visual impairment, luggage, bikes or pushchairs find it difficult to use.  This not only affects Knebworth residents but those in surroundings areas, too, including South Stevenage, for whom Knebworth is nearer than Stevenage Station.

This petition is a call for full accessibility at Knebworth Station with the demand to install wheelchair ramps and lifts for access to ALL platforms.

Herts Accessible Transport believe the current operators of Knebworth Station are in breach of the Railways Act 1993, Human Rights Act 1998 and Equality Act 2010, the lack of accessibility to Knebworth Station is clear discrimination against the protected characteristics; disability, pregnancy and maternity (see Accessible Travel Policy  – Guidance for Train and Station Operators 2019 https://www.orr.gov.uk/sites/default/files/om/accessible-travel-policy-guidance-for-train-and-station-operators.pdf
