Make Kathy Osterman beach clothing optional

The Issue

Growing up near Chicago, I've always loved spending time at the beach. For many of us, the beach is a place of relaxation and freedom, where we can unwind and be ourselves. Recently, I've been inspired by the idea of enjoying a clothing-optional beach, which promotes a sense of personal freedom and body positivity. Having a designated clothing-optional beach in Chicago, specifically Kathy Osterman Beach, would not only benefit individual freedoms but also enhance our city's community spirit.

Allowing Kathy Osterman Beach to be clothing optional would create a welcoming environment for locals and tourists seeking a more natural and liberating beach experience. It would help people feel comfortable in their own skin and promote self-acceptance by embracing diverse body types in a judgment-free zone. This change would also serve to reduce incidents of nudity on other, non-designated beaches, thereby respecting the preferences of all beachgoers.

Currently, major cities across the U.S. and the world, including San Francisco's Baker Beach and Miami's Haulover Beach, successfully maintain clothing-optional spaces. These locations have shown that clothing-optional beaches can coexist with traditional beaches harmoniously, bringing economic benefits through tourism while promoting an inclusive culture.

We urge the Chicago Park District and City Council to consider our request for Kathy Osterman Beach to become a designated clothing-optional beach. This would not only respect individual's choices but also align Chicago with other progressive cities that encourage freedom of expression. Let's make this step forward by empowering people to enjoy our beautiful shores free of judgment.
