Make it Mandatory to Report Accidents Involving Cats on Roads

The Issue

Thankyou to everyone that has already signed and shared. It means alot. Let's keep going 💪

I have personally witnessed the devastating aftermath of cats being hit on roads, left unattended and hidden in gardens. This sight is not only heartbreaking but also unjust. As a cat owner i could never image going through the heartbreak. Many people I know own cats and live in constant fear of not knowing where their beloved pets are. It's high time we put an end to this.

In many jurisdictions, it is already a legal requirement to report accidents involving dogs; however, the same does not apply for cats. This discrepancy is puzzling considering that both animals are cherished members of our families.

According to a recent report by PetPlan , thousands of cats are killed on roads each year in the UK alone (Petplan 2023). Yet there is no law requiring drivers involved in such incidents to stop and report them.

This lack of legislation allows individuals who hit cats with their vehicles to evade responsibility for their actions. It leaves countless families without closure or understanding about what happened to their pets.

We believe that all animals should be treated equally under the law. We call upon lawmakers everywhere to extend existing laws regarding road accidents involving dogs so they also cover incidents with cats.

By signing this petition, you're supporting a change that will ensure more protection for our feline friends and peace of mind for cat owners everywhere. Please sign this petition today!

We need to get 10,000 signatures to get a response from the government. Once we get 100,000 signatures it then can be considered for debate in Parliament. Lets get sharing to hit 10,000
