Every animal deserve the same rights regardless of whether that animal is someone’s pet or a stray but its life is worth the same. In the UK, you only have to stop if you hit a dog or a large animal but cats do not fall under that bracket. A cats life has the same worth as a dog or any other animal so it should fall under the same legal legalisation that you have to stop when you hit a cat. Our pet cat Helloa was hit by a car and sadly passed away. We believe the people or person who hit him did not stop as he was found deceased the next day. We have no idea whether he suffered or died on impact. If it wasn’t for posting about him being missing, we would have never have known he was hit. We believe helloa’s wish would be that he did not die in vain and that no other cat would be left after being hit by any vehicle. Stopping after you’ve hit a cat and taking it to vets could just save its life. Seconds and actions matter.
