Make it illegal to drive away after killing a cat

Make it illegal to drive away after killing a cat
The Issue
Countless cats are killed by cars daily and left to suffer on the road. it is still legal to dive away, unlike dogs which are covered by the Road Traffic Act 1988 which legally requires you to stop and report the incident to the police.
THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!
I’ve started this petition in hopes that people won’t have to suffer the injustice we will after loosing our boy tiger. Tiger was a beautiful boy who came to us after being stray and over the years learnt to love humans, he was known and loved by all the locals and was a shadow to my mum, following her everywhere. Our hearts are shattered knowing that nothing will be done about the heartless person that left tiger in the road and continued on their journey after killing our beloved boy.
Cats are family to cat owners, just as dogs are family to dog owners. So why is this law allowing cats to be left to suffer roadside with no action taken?
Adding cats to the list of animals that you are required to report to police on The Road Traffic act 1988 will bring down the percentage of cats left to suffer. Currently, in the eyes of the law cats are seen as nothing more than roadkill, whereas dogs are recognised as a pet.
this needs to change, fast.
