Well, I was successful in getting my RFA done today. I have to say that I am very blessed that I have a doctor that cares, and was assertive enough to fight CIGNA to get the refusal overturned. I'm in a great deal of pain, and will know in about six weeks if the procedure was successful.
Ironically so however, I received a call from the company who supplied me with my CPAP machine and sends me my supplies. They advised me that CIGNA told them that I am not a covered customer. Why am I not surprised? So, along with that, I also received a response from my state insurance commission who advised me that since my employer is self-insured, I have to file a complaint with the U.S. Dept. of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration in Chicago. I'll be proceeding with this tomorrow. I will also be contacting the County Commisioners Office and filing an in-person complaint with them.
People, if you are having issues with your insurance companies rejecting your treatment, FIGHT THEM! Do NOT take no for an answer! They are obligated to provide you services and ensure that you get the treatment you are paying for!
Fight the fight! And please, promote this petition! CIGNA is one of the lowest (if not THE lowest) rated insurance company in the nation! Please....help me force their hands to do the job they are obligated to do. They are a multi-million dollar company. To reject treatment is unethical, inhumane, and downright ILLEGAL!
