Today a message went viral on all whatspp groups (Pic in the post). The message was writtten by a member of the RWA of Minto Road Society, New Delhi. The member said to put nails in a stick and then hit dogs on their neck three to four times with the stick. This way either the dog would die or he would get injured and then be taken to the hospital. In any case the dog will not be in the society.
RWA is indeed the biggest villain which is only finding means and ways to get rid of dogs and thereby making both the life of dogs and its caregivers hell.
Dogs are hated by majority in India. And instead of busting the myths attached with them that they are rabid, sick and dirty the municipal corporation and the police have mostly preferred to side with the majority. Hence, leaving both the dog and his caregiver on the mercy of God. Well, Tarana (+919834308218) is the best example of that.
Tarana is a young modern woman who has traveled throughout India because she was the daughter of an army officer who served the nation and is now retired and living with his wife just few kilometers away from where Tarana lives. She is the eldest of her two siblings a brother who is a medical doctor and a sister who is a Professor in a university both living in the united states of America. Tarana too had a lucrative career in the USA but she chose to come back to India. One because she wanted to be with her parents and second for the love of her motherland. She just like her father wanted to serve her nation.
But serving in the army and serving in a civil society are not the same. Tarana realized it quite late.
Tarana was very fond of dogs as she was brought up with dogs since her childhood days.
In 2019 Tarana shifted as a tenant in Jaypee Aman sector 151, Noida which is almost a 100 acre big society. The society was and is still under construction. Tarana saw a huge population of unstrelized, malnutritioned and unloved dogs in the 30 acre land where the laborers also used to stay. She instantly created a bond both with the laborers and the dogs. She started feeding the dogs and started getting them.sterilized. But very soon the dog phobic people of the society started abusing her and mentally torturing her. They accused her of getting 10 dollar per dog for feeding them from NGOs. They even pressurized her landlord to get the house vacated. But Tarana was a brave woman and she didn't give up. She used her savings and bought a house in the same society. But her ordeal continued. One day in the month of March 2020 when she came down to feed the dogs a lady started abusing her and held her responsible for a dog who had torn the seat cover of her husband's scooter. She didn't stop there. She pulled Tarana's hair and asked her grown up son to beat her. The son then hit Tarana on her shoulder.
Tarana then lodged a complaint with the police but very soon she decided to forgive the barbaric lady and her son and withdrew her complaint.
But that was a wrong decision which Tarana repents today. Tarana was now being ridiculed and became an object of gossip on whatsapp group of the residebts. Being a modern woman she used to wear western clothes. Her wearing shorts and t shirts too had become a subject of discussion.
Very soon covid 19 hit the world and India was no exception. All residents were confined to their homes but this brave lady continued feeding the dogs and also the laborers who were living in the same complex in the most unhygienic conditions. Just then she met a family, a father (retired from army) mother, daughter and son. Who were all infected with covid. Tarana got them to her house and saved their lives. The daughter soon got married and she left the house along with her mother. The father and son stayed back with Tarana. Tarana too wanted them to stay with her as she wanted protection and a helping hand to feed the 40 dogs who lived in the compound. Six of the dogs she brought home because the residents had threatened to kill them. Many dogs had been poisoned and killed.
Tarana and her adopted family stayed on the nineteenth floor with six dogs. The dogs needed to go out for their walks atleast twice daily. But the goons of the society who are now eagerly waiting to contest the RWA elections stopped Tarana and her family to use the lift with dogs. Many times both Tarana and the young boy who is half her age have been scolded and abused for taking the dogs in the lift.
The management of Japee Aman is still in the hands of the builder but very soon the construction work will be completed and the builder will handover the management to the residents. According to Tarana the residents who have been harassing and torturing her are the ones who are most likely to form the RWA (Resident welfare association). And if they will come then her life and the life of the dogs will surely become worse.
Tarana could have easily walked out of this society which is inhabited by people of talibanic mentality. Who think a single woman wearing shorts and t shirts is of a questionable character and therefore they can say and do anything with her. They just cannot see Tarana's contribution in getting all the dogs of her society sterilized and immunized. She has till now got more than 100 dogs sterilized and vaccinated in and around her society.

Navratri is a nine day festival which is being celebrated throughout India. During these 9 days the Goddess Durga (Goddess of courage and bravity who fought the demons and killed them) is worshipped in every household. And on the ninth day girls are worshipped and given gifts.
Tarana is in true sense the image of Goddess Durga who is fighting bravely against all odds. Against the demons whose minds and hearts are polluted and sick.
And the sad part is that our govt machinery has failed completely in giving protection to women like Tarana. In this pious land of India where women have always been respected and given the freedom of expression and thought there are now women like Tarana who are fearful to stay alone and when they adopt a family they are seen with suspicion. And all this just because Tarana chose to become the saviors of dogs who were living a life of deprivation and hatred. She chose to protect their lives and in return lost her own peace of mind and respect. A very big price she has paid for protecting the man's best friend.
This is the sad story of Tarana but there are many more Taranas who live in posh modern societies and are constantly being targeted by men who have a talibani mentality as they judge a woman by her clothes and her marital status.
Let's not forget that the first victim of a criminal mind is most likely a mute animal. Thereafter the next victim becomes a human child or a woman......
