In Hinduism it is said that the world goes through four cycles. The first cycle is Satyug ( the cycle where only truth and goodness prevails. Then comes Traitayug ( the cycle where vices like dishonesty, jealousy, selfishness etc enter). After that is Dwaparyug ( the cycle where vices start dominating and goodness starts disappearing). And last cycle is Kalyug. This is the cycle where man loses all goodness. He becomes selfish, dishonest and greedy. This is indeed Kalyug as we are all living in it and witnessing it.

Cow has been considered  mother ( Gau Mata) in Hinduism. She is revered and worshipped in India.  In every religious ritual her milk, curd & butter (made from her milk) are used as it is considered auspicious. Even today her products are used but unfortunately for business purpose. She is exploited to the core. For cow owners she is only a money minting machine. There are no laws which penalizes these owners. We have seen in few of the previous posts how the cows are tied and beaten by their owners for feeding milk to their calves. Because more milk means more money for them.

The govt is absolutely blind to all this. There is a huge dairy industry which is the source of livelihood for millions of Indians. It may not be possible for the govt to replace this most exploitative industry by plant based industry but the least they can do is devise guidelines and strict aws for the owners of cows and buffaloes. The cows are artificially impregnated so a cow becomes pregnant almost twice a year. Tnis leaves her weak and malnutrition. Every hour 70 cows are getting impregnated through artificial insemination. Telangana is number one state followed by Madhya Pradesh.

In cities like Delhi they are left by their owners after milking on busy roads where they are hit by vehicles. So they are often seen in garbage bins eating garbage.

To add to the woes of cows now a new virus by the name of Lumpy has infected them. Thousands of cows have already died and many are still dying. There has been a huge casualty in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. And now it's time for Delhi  and Uttar Pradesh cows. There are hardly any medical facilities for them. Watch how a mother cow is feeding her calf inspite of being infected with lumpy.

When will the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbabndry & Dairying stop turning a blind eye to the woes of cows. Is this how a mother should be treated?

Dogs were never a priority for the ministry nor the media. And the result is right in front of us. There has been hardly any awareness and implementation of the ABC program pan India. Due to lack of awareness about dog behaviour and myths attached with them that they are rabid there has been fear in the minds of people for dogs. The pet owners and caregivers are constantly being harassed. The prevention of cruelty to animals act 1960 has not been amended and it seems the govt has no will to do it. Animal life has no worth.

Kerala dogs have been murdered just because of lack of implemtation of ABC program and the myths attached with them that they are all rabid. The Chief minister of Kerala has woken up now when people are saying to boycott Kerala tourism. But it's too late. The people of Kerala have lost their mind and are killing dogs indiscriminately.  Even the Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan could not stop himself from intervening and requesting the people of Kerala to stop killing of dogs.

The media of India is no less guilty. They created fear for dogs in the minds of Indians with their irresponsible reporting for several days when the unfortunate incidents of dog biting in lift happened in greater noida.

Majority of the media houses deliberately choose to report only those incidents where dogs bite or attack humans but never report human cruelty towards animals. Not once they think about the repercussions their news will have on the minds of people which is already anti dog.  Every day a dog is beaten, killed and poisoned and a caregiver harassed. But this is no news for them.

Anyway their irresponsible reporting has led to abandonment of many pet dogs and relocation of stray dogs. Are they reporting this inhuman act? They choose not to because it won't increase their TRP rating.

However, the print media in India are still doing unbiased and responsible journalism.

Yesterday 8 leopards were flown from Namibia to India and this made headline in all news channel. That too for the entire day. Reporting news is not wrong but giving it so much coverage at the cost of our own domestic animals is what was not taken in good taste by the people who take care of cows and dogs in India. India has always welcomed its guest and tnis time too we welcome our new guests but what about the domestic animals who are suffering. Right now it is our Gau Mata and our Indian Dog who need us. Media should have become their voice. They are suffering and dying. Many cows have died due to lack of medical aid and many dogs have died for no fault of theirs. They were neither rabid nor wild. They became victim of human menace which was primarily created by the corrupt and insane municipal corporations and recently by few apathetic television channels.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister had asked the municipal corporations to devise guidelines for street  animals last month.

This is one Chief Minister who is atleast thinking about the stray animals and allocated huge budget for their welfare.

Now the Chief Minister has asked to devise strict guidelines for pet dogs. And it seems the proposed guidelines are quite strict. This will neither help reduce man dog conflict nor encourage pet keeping. Rather this will further create a divide between man and dog.

Well all this mayhem and man dog conflict which we are witnessing today is the result of corrupt and senseless municipal corporations. They are entrusted with implementation of the ABC program and we all know what kind of work has been  happening in India. There is not a single state of India where humans are living peacefully with dogs. Both stray dogs and pet dogs are hated.

Giving corporation the responsibility of devising guidelines and rules for dogs and dog owners is not right. They will again come out with something foolish like do not allow dogs to go in lifts or in parks etc....The problem is that the corporation is influenced by councillors and mayors who hardly know anything about dogs and dog behaviour. They themselves need counseling on dog behaviour.

Hence the guidelines or any rules for any kind of community animal should be made only by the Animal Welfare Board. There should be only one rule and one guidelines to be followed by everyone in India.
