A case regarding dogs is going on in the Supreme Court. The lawyer from Kerala who is fighting the case gave a suggestion to the honourable judges that the caregivers who feed the stray dogs should be made responsible for their vaccination and in case the dog bites they should also give adequate compensation  to the victims and bear their medical expenses. The lawyer then told a reporter about this and the reporter published it in his news channel saying that the Supreme Court has said to make the caregiver responsible for the vaccination of stray dogs and to compensate the victim and bear his cost of treatment. Soon this news spread like fire on social media. The RWA run whatsapp groups were full of hate messages. And suddenly the atmosphere in the country became quite hostile both towsrds the stray dogs and their caregivers.

The Indian dogs and their owners were already being targeted because of the previous episodes of dog bites in lifts and the irresponsible coverage of media and now this fresh news of Supreme Court coming out with such anti dog and anti caregiver decision felt like sword piercing the heart.

Again this time it was the founder of PFA and member of Parliament Maneka Gandhi who came to the rescue of the dogs and the caregivers. She circulated a video where she told the public that the news is all fake and the anti caregiver views were that of the lawyer and judges said nothing on his views. They showed no reaction to what he said.

The fault is that of the lawyer and the reporter. Anyhow once the editor of the channel came to know that the news is fake he removed the news. But by then the damage was alreafy done. The fake news was all over India. Both in print and media (Pic in the post).

Why don't our media houses report animal cruelty and caregiver harassment??? This happens daily in India.

A young woman caregiver in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh was physically assaulted by a family for feeding stray dogs. The family consisted of three men and two women. They slapped the girl, banged her against the wall and kicked her. They not only assaulted the poor girl but also broke her bike and threatened her with dire consequences just because she made a police complaint against them.

This is another incident of a village in Meerut  Uttar Pradesh where a dog was brutally beaten up. Apparently a child used to tease the dog. She used to dodge the dog by keeping the food in front of him and then instantly  removing it. One day she tried to do the same trick and the dog pounced on the food and in the process the child received a scratch from the dog. Thereafter the father of the child along with few other men tied the dog and mercilessly beat him with rods. To watch the barbaric act kindly go on the link below:

A retriever puppy was brutally beaten up by a neigjbour in a housing society in Greater noida, Uttar Pradesh. The only fault of the puppy was that the door of the house where he lived was open and he came out. He was a harmless soul and yet he too was not spared. The UP police has not lodged any compaint against the sick barbarian.

This beating and  abandonment of dogs may or may not be the result of media campaign against dogs and dog owners which has been going on for the last three days. But the irresponsible reporting has definitely made the environment hostile both for the dogs as well as their owners.

Nowt the question is that will Indian  media expose such barbarians in our society? The CCTV footage and videos of the dogs being brutally beaten and the woman being assaulted for feeding the dogs are very much available. Then why don't they run a three day campaign on these videos?  Is it because such people and animals are in minority?

And what is the Ministry of Animal husbandry, dairying and Fisheries doing?

Well if cow alone is what the ministry is interested in then kindly  watch the following videos:

The cows in Rajasthan, Chattisgargh and Gujarat are dying of lumpy virus. Now this disease has spread to Delhi as well. The cow shelters and the gau sevaks are having a harrowing time. They have no aid from the government. Neither from the state govt nor from the centre. It seems the Delhi govt has put all its money in building schools and Mohalla clinics. They have no money  for animals.

Cows starve on the streets of Delhi. They are often seen in garbage bins eating garbage. And for this both the central and the state govt are responsible.

Animals in India are in a pathetic condition. Just what kind of smart cities have our leaders visualized for us one just fails to understand.
