Nothing is more disgusting and shameful when the protectors and custodians of law break the law. The municipal corporation which is entrusted with the implementation of the ABC programme for stray dogs is in reality doing nothing of that sought in many parts of India.

A shocking video has gone viral where the employees of the Municipality of a small town Dhamnod in the district of Dhar in Madhya Pradesh have been found picking up dogs with iron tongs ( on the neck ) and loop (on the back) and then throwing them like a piece of trash in a garbage picking vehicle.

Imagine the trauma the dogs must have went through while being picked up so cruelly. And then being dumped in a trash bin with other dirt and filth that too in a closed bin with no air and light.

God knows where they are and what happened to them?

To watch the act of barbarism kindly go on the following link:

What are our Municipal Commissioners, mayors and councillors doing?

Is it really the fault of the employees who are picking up the dogs and then dumping them in garbage bins just like other garbage?

Twenty long years the Dog rules 2001 has just been lying on the paper never to be implemented by many of the municipalities in India.

Why such blatant violation of dog rules in India?

Unfortunately it is happening every day but very few get captured on camera and become viral on social media.

India needs to first sensitise its own commissioners, mayors and councillors about dog behaviour and dog rules. What's the point of bringing awareness among the masses when the implementers of law are ignorant about laws. Ultimately it is they who have to.implement the ABC programme and not the common man of India.

Dhamnod it seems is in the race of becoming the number one city of India in cleanliness. They are forgetting that animals especially street animals are not dirt and filth which are to be treated as garbage.

"Cleanliness is next to Godliness". These are the words of Mahatma Gandhi the father of our nation.

Will the Dhamnod municipality explain where is Godliness in this act of cleanliness of theirs?
