The Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha Mohammad Jawed sent a letter dated 10th July 2020 to the Union Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Giriraj Singh for bringing amendment in the PCA Act 1960.
Dr. Jawed has said in his letter that there has been no amendment related to the penalty amount which is Rs. 50 in the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 which has been there for the last 60 years.
For any kind of cruelty to animals whether it be beating, kicking, killing etc the penalty amount is merely Rs. 50 which is too low an amount. This needs to be amended and the amount be raised. He has requested the Minister to propose an amendment in the PCA Act in the parliament and he is hopeful that the amendment shall be passed with a good majority. This is a wonderful news for all the animals of India who are tortured and harmed for no reason at all, especialky the man's best friend who is dying a death he just doesn't deserve.
This amendment should have been brought long back but better late than never.
Dr Jawed has reinstated the dying confidence of the animal lovers of India who had almost lost hope from their elected leaders.
The land of Mahatma Gandhi still has leaders who think about animals and will become the voice for them in the Indian parliament.
